Why this ministry

Around the world the church is growing — and in many places it struggles for lack of pastoral training

5%

of pastors in ministry today have received theological training

Lausanne Global Analysis, 2015

pastors worldwide serve without biblical or theological education

Lausanne Global Analysis

90%

of pastors in the Global South serve without the training they need

Chris Sugden, 2023

There is no school nearby, no money for tuition, and no way to leave a family and a church behind. When a pastor holds a distorted gospel, the whole congregation inherits it. So BEE starts with the pastors in the hardest mission fields.

In Korea and many other places where churches invest in teaching their members, BEE courses also work remarkably well for training believers and leaders. The more members study the Word for themselves and teach others, the healthier the church becomes.

How

The school goes to the student

BEE (Biblical Education by Extension) lets leaders learn without leaving their life and ministry. Small groups of about fifteen discover the Word for themselves through workbooks — and those who learn go on to teach.

Fruit

Churches that once received missions now send them

Of 114 short-term ministry trips in 2025, 88 were made not from Korea but by local BEE ministries going to another country.

Mission is handed over in four stages

  1. 1 / 4

    Pioneer

A facilitator enters, introduces BEE and forms groups.

  2. 2 / 4

    Parental

The missionary gives; the nationals receive.

  3. 3 / 4

    Partnership

Some nationals join the missionary as givers.

  4. 4 / 4

    Participatory

Nationals do most of the work; the missionary offers only new courses.

  1. 2017

Localization adopted as the official goal — measured in five areas (admin, facilitators, workbooks, finance, ministry)

  2. 2020

BEE Qatar and BEE India fully localized and independent

  3. 2022

BEE Country A and BEE America fully localized and independent
