This course provides an introductory study of the characteristics and content of each of the 39 Old Testament books. Students will read through the Old Testament thoroughly and use workbooks that explain the background, features, structure, and outline of each book. Summarizing the structure and outline of each book is a very important part of this course. Through this learning process, students will also discover that the 66 books of the Bible are one book with a consistent theme. Areas of academic debate such as authorship, dating, and literary analysis are covered only to the extent needed for understanding the text. * International seminars use the English edition 'Incredible Journey 1'.
This course studies the five books of the Pentateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy). It serves as an intermediate step for inductively studying each book of the Bible, with greater emphasis on the goal of getting students to read the Bible themselves rather than just teaching them about it. Students will understand the Pentateuch as one book, examining the origins of human history and the formation of God's people. Many questions arising from thorough reading of the biblical text will be addressed, and students will revise the structure and outline charts created in Survey of the Bible 1. Students will also acquire methods for identifying the meaning and lessons the original audience received from the biblical text and applying them to themselves.
Through studying the Psalms by category, students gain insight and skills for understanding the Psalms and learn the meaning and importance of intimate fellowship with God and true worship. Students can especially discover what intimate fellowship with God means and what it truly means to worship God.
This course studies the faith, courage, consistent life of faith, and visions that Daniel received from God as he lived a faithful life for God's glory. Students will understand not only the meaning and significance of dreams and visions but also who Daniel was as a man of God. Daniel's faith consistent with his life, his character, and his faith combined with holy courage provide an excellent model of faith for Christians living under the new covenant. Through studying this course, become a Daniel for the modern age.
